An exhibition of cyanotypes by Brooklyn artist Katarina Jerinic opens this Thursday at the Gowanus Souvenir Shop. The cyanotype is--you guessed it--blue. The lovely washy, saturated images nonetheless capture the floating debris, muck and reflections of the skies of the Gowanus Canal, which the artist traverses regularly on here way to the studio. Jerinic chose this photographic method from 1840s, and a title of the exhibition borrowed from Asher B. Durand, a Hudson river School artist who fretted over the impact of industrialization.
