This piece is from a series of paintings shown in a solo exhibition titled "Out of Sight" at the Scarmouche gallery in Manhattan's Lower East Side in 2013. The exhibition explored the evolution of visual culture and contemporary experience, as mediated by personal computing devices.

The thick cartoony shapes of the figure are reminiscent of Philip Guston's visual style. Depicting one's experience with technology from a first person point of view, the viewer looks down at hands holding a tablet with a dark screen. Perhaps the blank screen is intended as a 'choose your own adventure' for the viewer; or could it be a tragicomic outlook on social connectivity? Regardless, this piece is a time capsule of the digital era presented by a self-aware millennial.
